Thursday, June 19 • 11:20 AM - 11:40 AM • Room S111
As the global market converges, what are the prospects for the world’s largest legacy carriers? Their prospects may seem somewhat like that of an old and powerful castle under siege. While they presently control access to the premise, powerful forces are breaking in and time to market is shortening. Voice service is in decline, beginning to resemble more of a millstone than a bread-and-butter offering. What will replace those lost revenues in the next five years? Will L. Hahn, Principal Analyst Carrier Operations and Strategies, Gartner, Inc.
Will Hahn looks at the global market for telecom carriers, and has supported a variety of cross-regional and inter-sector projects in his eleven years with Gartner Inc. His slate includes submarine cable, virtual network operators, new carrier revenue streams and emerging telecom markets among others. He has been privileged to address Gartner clients on three continents- and he is fairly sure that at least some of them were listening. In his former career, Will taught Ancient-Medieval history, the chief difference being that he was confined to one continent and is almost certain that none of his audience was listening.
