Consumers are demanding digital services and interactivity on their TVs and companies from across all industries are working together to make this a reality. In the meantime, the Global Telecommunications market has gone through significant changes from the “go-go 90s” of plentiful capital to the nuclear winter of the early 2000’s with significant market correction. This session will explore what the telecommunications industry is doing to meet the demands of consumers. In addition leading investment and market experts will discuss what key business, regulatory and technologies are impacting industry investments in ICET communications companies.

Charles Kenmore, President & Chief Executive Officer, ANDA Networks, Inc.
As president and CEO of ANDA Networks, Charles R. Kenmore leads the Silicon Valley-based low-cost provider of application-specific access products for carriers and service providers. A telecom industry veteran with more than 30 years of progressive responsibilities in senior executive and general management roles, 19 of which were as CEO, president or vice president / GM, Mr. Kenmore has directed domestic and international business, marketing, sales, engineering, customer support, finance and operations functions. He has established four start-up businesses within larger companies and has successfully managed companies during prosperity and economic downturns.
Prior to joining ANDA Networks, Mr. Kenmore’s most recent responsibilities included president of ADC International; vice president and general manager of the international division of the Information Systems Group at Motorola; founding head of Sprint International; and vice-president and general manager of the international systems integration division at Comsat. He is a frequent speaker at investment banking and institutional investor conferences. Mr. Kenmore also serves on the board of TechNet and is a member of CEO Council of TIA.

Kurt Hoofnagle is a Managing Director in RBC Capital Markets' Technology Investment Banking Group and leads the Firm's Communications Equipment practice. Prior to joining RBC Capital Markets, Mr. Hoofnagle covered the Communications sector at JP Morgan, SG Cowen and Lehman Brothers. Mr. Hoofnagle has completed dozens of financing and advisory transactions for communications industry leaders including Aruba Networks, Nortel Networks, Research In Motion, Juniper Networks, Qualcomm, and numerous others. Mr. Hoofnagle received his MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania and his BA in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
Karan Mehandru, Scale Venture Partners Associate, focuses on identifying investment opportunities in semiconductor, MEMS, consumer electronics and datacenter infrastructure companies. Prior to ScaleVP, Karan was a Sales Account Manager at Synopsys. He was instrumental in closing more than $40 Million in strategic and territorial design wins during 2006 and 2007. He also led marketing, applications and sales efforts for his team's top accounts and worked closely with the company's strategic customers and the product management team on the development of new products.
Before Synopsys, Karan was an implementation manager with a focus on the fabless semiconductor market for PMC-Sierra in Vancouver, Canada. During his five years with PMC-Sierra, he led and managed design implementation of large scale ASICs targeted for the telecommunications, storage and networking markets.
Karan graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada with an Honors Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree with high distinction. He also holds a Master's degree in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, with a specialization in technology and Entrepreneurship.
Bill Shaw is a managing director of The NASDAQ Stock Market based in Menlo Park, California. Mr. Shaw’s primary responsibility is developing client relations with global advisory institutions driving a private company to the public markets, including investment banking, financial sponsors and corporate advisors.
Mr. Shaw has held various positions with the firm in its Corporate Client Group since 2003 working with CEOs and CFOs of NASDAQ listed companies in the western United States and Canada.
Prior to joining NASDAQ, Mr. Shaw worked for Genesis Merchant Group Securities, an investment-banking firm based in San Francisco, California. Responsibilities included the trading of listed and over-the-counter stocks, institutional research sales and high net worth investment management. Prior to Genesis, Mr. Shaw was president and founder of Eiger Communications, an integrated sales & marketing company based in San Francisco. Among his clients were Fortune 500 companies including Sony, Ford Motor Company, Anheuser Busch and The Chrysler Corporation.
Before 1980, Mr. Shaw built a career as an athlete competing 5 years on the FIS World Cup as a member of the United States Alpine Ski Team and 9 years on the World Pro Ski Tour, twice winning the Japan National championships. His fellow global competitors elected him to serve two terms as president of the World Pro Ski Tour. While attending Boise State University and the University of Wyoming, Mr. Shaw earned NCAA titles along with Hall of Fame and All American honors.
