What They’re Saying About NXTcomm08 and the Industry
What do you see as the biggest opportunities in the industry?
“The biggest opportunities lie in helping our customers reduce the cost of deploying infrastructure that supports the FTTP/FTTX initiatives in any way possible. Helping our customers meet, or exceed installation and service turn-up deadlines, will ensure that they win the war for “life-long” subscribers that will create on-going revenue streams for years to come. They know they can easily compete with the cable industry, so we just have to help them deliver the product to the customer as quickly and inexpensively as possible. Any company that can focus in on providing the products and services that help our customers better compete in the intense race for new subscribers will have incredible opportunities in this industry for many years to come.
There will also be huge opportunities to assist customers with the challenge of funding the support of legacy networks, and the eventual retirement, or migration of legacy network elements to IP based infrastructure at minimal cost. Devices that provide least cost single port legacy to IP mediation will be in big demand. The industry no longer has budgets to replace this critical network, but it will still have to maintain it for at least another decade.”

Power Solutions for Next Generation Networks
Thursday, June 19 • 10:30 AM - 11:15 AM • Room S113
As active equipment and advanced network communications elements continue to evolve, managing power has become more critical than ever. What’s more, today’s applications require higher amperage power distribution in the central office. This panel discussion will explore the power solutions that are available for next generation telecom networks. It will deal with the current and upcoming needs of leading edge networks, how these needs are addressed by current technology, then it will cover how the power needs of these systems can best be met by fuel cell and solar technology in an effective, efficient and environmentally friendly way. In addition, panelists will address the ongoing trend in power distribution and how it is shaping power product development today using real world examples that help end users deal with power in changing network architectures.
